Arrr Maytey

I've been working on a paper about the effect of movie piracy on the movie industry. While doing this I realized that Hollywood basically has doomed itself in this aspect. By making the movies Pirates of the Caribbean, Hollywood gave people the idea that "Pirates are cool. Pirates are the good guys." Hence people end up thinking, "Movie Piracy is good."

Please don't take this too seriously, it's just something funny that I thought of.

The Dark Knight

Wow. We saw the Dark Knight last Saturday, and I can easily say that it's probably the best Super Hero movie I've ever seen. It's going to take a lot for other movies to beat this. It was very intense and the story gripped you and wouldn't let go. When they caught the Joker I found myself thinking, "It can't be over yet." When it kept going I was blown away and loving every minute of it.

Super Powers

Whenever I'm with someone, and I can't think of anything to talk about, I always fall back on the same question. If you were a super hero, what kind of super power would you want? After they're done giving me weird looks most people tend to answer. I've had a variety of answers, from the usual 'super strength', 'flying', or 'Wolverine's healing', to the down right bizarre. I even had one guy admit that he wanted X-ray vision. I'll let you figure out yourselves why he wanted that.

Of course after I'd found out what I'd wanted it would always backfire on me. They'd inevitably ask the question "How about you?". The problem is I can never decide on a final answer. I keep changing my mind, and the fact that I want to be as original as possible just doesn't help. Every single good power has already been thought of by someone else.

It doesn't stop there though. I'll think of an idea for an exciting new invention/product/story idea, and someone's already thought of it. All my good ideas have been taken. I end up deciding that originality is impossible, and then someone has to go and prove me wrong. So I ended up deciding that it isn't about who does it first, but who does it best.

I would like to apologize for the general lousiness of these early posts. Blame it on me not having much to say right now, and just wanting to have material to take up space. Part of the problem is that I'm not quite sure yet what I want this blog to be about. I'm thinking of using it as a sort of system to update people on my writing. But I still have to decide, since I'm not doing much besides school work, and I barely do that.

This is technically my first blog.  I thought I'd give it a try, but since I don't have anything to say right now I'm just typing this up so I have something.  But since nobody knows about this, it's alright.
